Live the excitement of the Island’s most famous horse race on your holiday to Mauritius

Kicking off a flying start to the horse racing season in Mauritius, the grand finale of the Duchess of York Cup will be held on 15th May 2010.That’s the day Champ de Mars, one of the oldest racecourses in Mauritius will come alive with the enthusiastic cheers of thousands of horse-racing enthusiasts. The sheer sight of well-bred horses dashing furiously towards the finishing line is sure to send an adrenalin rush through your veins.

The racing season in Mauritius usually begins in mid-May and lasts upto November with nearly two dozen race meetings being held in each season. Horses used in these events are usually brought from far-off places like Australia, England and France that are known to rear the finest breeds of livestock. Though these races may not have the glitz, glamour and star power which similar events in Europe or America command but that in any way does not take away the thrill and exhilaration that this event offers.

If you are planning your next Holidays To Mauritius, then it would make perfect sense if you schedule your trip to coincide with the grand finale so that you don’t miss an iota of excitement on your next trip to Mauritius.
